Pret, I guess I mis-understood you, I thought you were against spinal immobilization? (for the most part). I believe you were an advocate of clearing the spine at the scene? As far as decubitusis are concern, I have been immobilizing patients for 14 years,the only skin perssure site that ever developed wasa result from a scoop stretcher that we used on an elderly gentleman who had fallen and fx his left hip. I agree that a "raw' spine board should be avoided and is easily avoided with foam cell products. obviousley the aformentioned study is totally inadequate and should be reviewed as recyclable but wipe. I agree we need an indepth study concerning S.I. Perhaps the Naderites could have hauled thier X-ray equipment to the scene when thay were using cadavers for crash dummies, took a few X's of spinal column with and without SI, before and after removel of the cadaver.
