Just my two cents, I think the fact that we as EMT's and Paramedics have to
be certified state by state in itself is not very productive other than just
another way to generate money for state OEMS offices. Here in MA we even
have to be certified region to region, which to me is a power thing for
heads of region. Also what about licenses Vs certifications. would that help
to be able to work state to state. How about unified training so that again
we all as medics have the same education to be passed amongst our
profession. It just bothers me to know that after 15 years in this
profession I wouldn't be able to move to another state and be able to find
work without jumping through so many hoops. again just my two cents.

Subject: Establishment of another EMT Certification Organization
To All Concerned Parties:
The National Registry of EMTs has been well established over the
years but I fear that they have grotesquely monopolized on
testing/certification services for EMTs. If I am sadly mistaken, this
country has laws that is supposed to prevent this from happening---talk to
Microsoft. I believe that medical schools are now accredited by two separate
entities with one performing the task on even years and the later on odd
years.
The NREMT is also in bed with NHTSA (DOT) on many issues such as what
the national curriculum for medics should be. DO you think it is time that
a new organization should be developed to do the same thing as what the
NREMT is currently doing? I am really interested in knowing what you folks
think on this subject matter.
