Karen, Good management of blunt chest wall injury rarely strays beyond pain control and active breathing. About every ten years, someone publishes a 'new' approach to flail chest, typically some variation on stuff that hasn't helped much in the past. It's probably safe to assert that the treatment of flail chest amounts to the treatment of pain and pulmonary contusion. As for images, I think that trauma.org has some, even a few of historical merit--Karim, don't you have rib traction pics? Otherwise, a careful internet search (e.g., "chest AND injury AND images...") might be helpful. You can save almost any picture on the internet by right-clicking it. Just check to see that it isn't someone's property first. Best of luck. Specifically, treatment options and "nursing" interventions for those patients experiencing rib #s, # sternum and flail chest. If there are images of the above this would also be appreciated.
