>Does anyone insert cannulated screws for elderly hip fractures? I have done this before in selected cases: horizontal fracture line, no = dislocation, no other need for hip prosthesis. Always the question has=20 been whether to treat conservatively or to do hemialloarthroplasty.=20 Although I have no great numbers to present, it seems work fine: early=20 (day one) mobilisation, no secondary dislocation observed. But - as said= =20 above - just limited numbers. Would be interested to know whether fixation has been necessary at=20 all.... just my two cents Mathias --=20 Dr. Mathias Kalkum Tel.: +49 9631 87-0 KKH Tirschenreuth Department of Surgery / Abt. f=FCr Chirurgie Fax: +49 9631 87-5715 Tirschenreuth County Hospital / Kreiskrankenhaus Tirschenreuth D 95643 Tirschenreuth eMail: mkalkum@web.de
