In my experience, effective splinting cannot be predicted nor assured by splint selection. I've seen expensive commercial splints used in wholly alarming ways, while wonderful improvisations are frequently fashioned out of sticks, towels, magazines, and bags of frozen foods. If it's a product endorsement you're after, I doubt you'll find consensus here--although I imagine that most of us would agree that less is more, and that if splints are stressing your budget, you're placing too much faith in vendors, and not enough on technique. If this is a performance improvement exercise, I'd look for documentation of effective immobilization, conscientious assessment of distal CSM's, and attention to control of pain and swelling.
