The  case regarding the hemopericardium from a dissecting aneurysm whose 
death was delayed a few days demonstrates the singular thinking of "lets get 
them out of the emergency room, so the death will be someone elses 
responsibility."   This patient did not need the pericardiocentisis, and the 
ultimate death was made more painful and expensive to the family, patient, 
surgeon, and the hospital, just because someone had an ego trip to do a 
procedure and who did NOT understand the ramifications of the disease they 
were dealing with.   

This case demonstrates even more why pericardiocentesis and pericardial 
windows should NOT be done in the EC.
