I also would be very interested in a copy of the competencies as I am
working on setting up a skills lab for the nurses in our Level III, 33,000
Volume a year ER.
Thanks in Advance

Subject: nursing competencies

Dear List Members

Does anyone have a list of core competencies that their trauma nursing staff
ideally achieve before being "certified or accredited" to care for trauma
patients?
I know TNCC have airway and spinal immobilisation, patient scenario and
helmet removal as part of the course. Is anyone doing anything else?
What sorts of assessment criteria are applied to ensure consistent standards
are achieved by people completing the said competencies?

I am really only talking hospital based competencies as our nurses don't
really have a role in the pre hospital environment, having said that we are
happy to consider anything folks may feel is relevant.

Thanks in advance
