We have 8 or 9 years of experience of using a pelvic splint. I like using it - the only caution is that it can sometimes open up the posterior elements of a fractured pelvis (basically it tends to push the anterior superior iliac spines medially which can open up a posterior fracture). However it does seem to limit the potential space into which the patient can bleed. I don't know of any RCTs, so we are probably only working on anecdote again.
