Of course we need controlled studies of most everything we do.   They should 
be outcome based.   Since I was a patient in the hospital recently, I have 
several suggestions to begin the list of things that MUST be focus of control 
studies:

       Cardiac Echocardiography 
       Coronary artery stents
       Plavix
       Pain management
       Indications and use of drugs such as:
             Lasix
             H2 blockers
             Antibiotics
             Beta blockers

I also discovered a number of economic driven practices which require 
signifincant study.   We could reduce duplicaton and the cost of health care 
significantly if we approached health care in a different way.
