First of all--this is not "always" true at all--you should get out into the 
world a bit and smell the roses!  That is what YOUR local protocol mandates, 
just like 10 years ago I'm sure they also mandated putting MAST trousers on 
any hypotensive patient, and 400 years ago they mandated mustard plasters 
over the forehead and chest
