Trauma/Critical Care Research Laboratory is actively investigating

pathophysiology
of uncompensated hemorrhage; and the role of inhaled |

nitric
oxide in acute lung injury. Recent clinical reports from the
section of |

Trauma/SurgicalCritical
Care have addressed the role of hypothermia in |
|
the
management of blunt hepatic trauma; and management of |
|
hemodynamically
unstable patients with pelvic fractures. |

Trauma/Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh

| responsibilities |
Medical
Center offersdiverse clinical and research opportunities for
the |

individual
interested in a career in trauma surgery. The trauma fellow

manages
the trauma service on a day to day basis under the supervision
|
|
of
five trauma surgeons. Organization and management of a Level
I |
|
Trauma
Center, aeromedical service, prehospital system, operative
and |
|
intensive
care of the trauma patient, and injury prevention will be
learned. |

A
second year of fellowship is available as a surgical care
fellowship in the |
|
largest and best known critical care program in the country. |
