| Philosophy: The
Fellowship in Trauma is designed to provide the Board
Certified of Board Eligible Surgeon with the scientific,
administrative, and teaching
experience necessary to hold himself out as qualified in
all aspects of primary
traumatology and surgical critical care including:
prehospital care, triage, transportation, resuscitation,
surgery, intensive care, and rehabilitation. It is expected
that after having completed an approved general surgery
training program, the clinical and technical skills necessary
to manage the injured patient have been already developed,
and this fellowship will allow the development of those
roles not traditionally emphasized in surgery training programs.
The fellow will act as a junior attending staff under the
supervision of senior attending trauma surgeons and will
be primarily responsible for the direct supervision and
education of surgical house staff assigned to the Trauma
Service. |
