as trauma referral center for Washington, Alaska, Montana,
and Idaho, via extensive air ambulance system (7 rotary and
fixed wing aircraft); >16,000 trauma patients evaluated and
>4,000 trauma admissions (1995); |

activities |
Clinical
research activities in neuroanesthesia, neurotrauma anesthesia,
application of regional anesthesia techniques to trauma patients,
and pain management of trauma and burn patients. Basic science
research in opioid pharmacology, local anesthetic and meningeal
transport physiology, and mechanisms of microvascular endothelial
injury/leukocyte adhesion. |

| Clinical
responsibilities |
Fellows
provide primary anesthesia services with faculty supervision,
and also supervise anesthesia resident trainees in the operating
room; clinical experience available in prehospital trauma
care (air ambulance and ground transport), emergency room
trauma care, and trauma pain management; night/weekend call.

opportunities |
At
mutual discretion of fellow and director, with access to all
ongoing research activities; typical non-clinical (research)
time is 25%, but can be increased to as much as 60% in selected
cases. |

Anesthesia

$40,000(+)
plus standard benefits package; salary may be increased through
additional (optional) night/weekend call. |
