Exsanguinating Pelvic Trauma

Right Upper Quadrant

The right upper quadrant examination visualizes the hepatorenal space (Morrison's Pouch) - the most dependent part of the upper abdomen and therefore the place where fluid will collect.

The transducer is placed in the right midaxillary line region between the 11th and 12h ribs.


NORMAL
The normal sagittal section demonstrates liver, diaphragm and kidney.

ABNORMAL
Blood appears as a hypoechoic area in the hepatorenal space.
